Winter Fashion Top Five // 2020

I’m kind of a minimalist when it comes to my fashion choices. I like to choose things that work well together and have a timelessness to them. If you are looking to invest in a few key pieces that you’ll use year after year, below are my top 5 must have picks for the winter season.

1. A Wool Coat

This year I opted for a full length version. I love a winter white as it freshens up any look and pairs well with an all black look and keeps it from being to somber. Camel is another great choice for versatility.

2. Leather Pants

I know…I can’t help but think of Ross either but I stand by this one. Go faux leather. They’re a great way to add some dimension to an outfit. Plus they’re a great dressy alternative. Just remember if you get toasty don’t mix powder and lotion because they’ll make a paste and you’ll never get your pants back on.

3. A Cream Cable Knit Sweater

I prefer a chunky knit. It’s classic, it pairs goes casual with jeans and dressy with skirts. It’s my all time favorite thing (and I have about 6 of them).

4. Killer Boots // Riding boots, Ankle booties, Knee high boots

Obviously boots are the way to go for the winter but I’d recommend the following three.

Knee high boots with a low heel will always be in style. It’s a classic American look. Add a pair of knee high wool socks to coordinate the look.

Ankle boots are a great option that still looks dressy in lieu of high heels. I like a slouchy ankle boot with a heel that works with jeans and dress pants. Conversely an ankle high hiking boot goes great for day to day wear. Knee high boots a great with skirts and sweater dresses as well as over jeans to make them more dressy. Tip: Look for a pointy toe to make your legs look longer.

5. A Leather Jacket

I tend to look for a moto collar (which stands up) and some sort of detailing on the shoulders or sleeves. Classic black is great and kind of rock-n-roll but they come in so many colors now and can be great with dresses too.
